Consigning with Eton Auctions: what to expect
From a photograph on your phone to the hammer falling — how we value, catalogue and sell your works, and what it costs.
Whether you are selling a single painting or a whole collection, the process begins the same way: send us a photograph.
1. A free, no-obligation valuation
Upload images through our consignment form or email them to us. A specialist will reply within two working days with a provisional auction estimate. For significant works we will arrange to see the piece in person.
2. Agreeing terms
We agree a reserve with you, confirm the sale the work will be offered in and set out our seller's commission in writing. There are no hidden charges for photography or cataloguing.
3. Cataloguing
Every work is photographed in our studio, researched and described by a specialist. We publish catalogues online three weeks before a sale and promote highlights to our collector list, on LiveAuctioneers and the-saleroom.
4. The sale and settlement
Settlement is made 35 days after the sale, once the buyer has paid. Unsold lots can be re-offered, sold by private treaty or returned.
Consignors with an account can follow every step — valuation, cataloguing, bids and settlement — from their dashboard.
